Co-Founder

Rhett Hunter

Rhett has been a growth investor, corporate development leader, CFO, and investment banker during his 25-year professional career. A common thread running through many of his professional experiences is supporting companies that help people by keeping them safe, while simultaneously growing a durable and valuable franchise. An avid traveler, Rhett also brings a global perspective and network to Hesperia Capital’s investment platform.

Investment Philosophy

Rhett is drawn to well-positioned, well-executing category leaders that are taking market share and have just started to scratch the surface of a large market opportunity. He believes in the importance of having a strong corporate culture, keeping organizations flat and fast, and building out internal infrastructure and systems to manage a growing business. Clear visibility into operational inflection points is another important attribute.

In his experience as an executive with several Internet-of-Things (IoT) companies, some of the most highest and most durable growth opportunities occur at the intersection of multiple disciplines. In IoT, bridging the physical world with digital elements requires hardware, firmware, software, and cloud expertise. While more challenging, businesses that can crack the code and seamlessly integrate elements from multiple areas can create higher barriers and experience profitable growth for many years.

Based on his years on the buy-side, Rhett remains passionate about the capital markets and actively manages a diverse stock portfolio. Many of his public companies share similar characteristics with Hesperia Capital’s target companies. A few examples include Evolv Technologies (NASDAQ: EVLV) and CAVA Group (NYSE: CAVA).

Community

He supports the Canine Humane Network, a non-profit dog rescue, shelter, adoption, and training organization. He also enjoys teaming up with his two teenage daughters to help deliver food on behalf of the Elizabeth House, an all-volunteer food pantry and soup kitchen in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
